If you’re anything like me, you started celebrating Christmas three weeks ago. It’s easy to get caught up in the lights and songs and treats, but don’t forget to keep writing! Even if you can’t find enough time to add thousands of words to your novel manuscript, you can take this time to stretch your imagination and test your creativity.
For example, write a short story about this: who lives in this gingerbread house?
Or practice your descriptive writing. What do you see here? Then take it a step further – how does it make you feel?
You can even get your family involved. Why not interview Grandmas and find out how her Christmas celebration this year is different from when she was a kid? Ask everyone what their favorite part of the Christmas dinner is (don’t forget to ask why). For something really fun, interview the kids – the depth of their answers might surprise you.
However you celebrate the season, make sure you keep writing. Merry Christmas!
