It pains me to say this, but I think it’s time – I think I need to blend my blogs. It’s not something I ever wanted to do, but it needs to be done. Before the big switch, please indulge me.

Eight years ago – before I wanted to write, before Facebook, before Skype – I created a blog. My sisters lived in Las Vegas, my parents lived downstate, and I was alone in the frozen tundra of northern Michigan. I wanted to share bits and pieces of my life (without writing dozens of emails), so I started a blog. It wasn’t much, but it was fun.

Then I started writing. I started another blog.

Mark Zuckerberg started Facebook. I joined.

Now it’s 2012. I run a freelance writing/editing business. I manage accounts at Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. When I want to share bits and pieces of my life with people, we Skype. All of my needs are being met elsewhere – my blog is irrelevant. Not only that, but it’s become a bit of a time suck. With so much other writing to do, the original has suffered.

Having weighed all of these factors, I think it’s time. Starting next month I’ll be diverting traffic from The Ramblings to this blog. I hope to some day get The Ramblings running again, but not until I have something to post that’s worth reading. Until then, it’s time to blend.

Before I do that, however, please visit The Ramblings. It is, after all, where I started. It’s been a great eight years.
