Hi all – it was suggested that I let you know what’s being offered at the conference so that you know what kind of prize to request. It would take too long to list everything out by title and presenter (it’s a four day conference…LOTS of classes), but I can give you an idea.
Craft: do you write fiction or non-fiction? They’ve got classes on both!
– Most common mistakes to get your query thrown out
– Characterization
– Plotting
– Eliminating wordiness
– Self-editing
– Scriptwriting
– Rhythm writing
– The Hook
Encouragement:
– Lessons from rejection letters
– How busyness can feed your writing
– Writing from the wilderness
Business Side:
– Writer/Agent relationship
– How agents/editors decide on proposals
– Marketing plans
– Writing a novel proposal
– Creating a website
Got some ideas now? There are other things, too. Just leave me a comment and let me know what kind of info you’re looking for…I still haven’t bought the prize!
Oh I love conferences: so much fun being around other people with the same interest.
Popped by from Writers on Writing.
And another question is "What should we expect from an agent?"
From your list, here's what I'd want (in order):
-Marketing plan
-Creating a website
-Writing a novel proposal
-How agent/editors decide on proposals
-Eliminating wordiness
-Self-editing
-Characterization
-Plotting
-The Hook
LOL I guess I should've just said everything because I've almost listed it all.
I don't expect all of it, unless that's not a problem.
Thanks for doing this.

HI Karin,
I too read the post from WOW. I'm pretty low maintenance, so any wisdom you have to share, I'm all ears.
Have fun!
They all sound like great topics to me! I especially liked the "how busyness can help your writing" one.
Probably just all the above! But self-editing, writing amid the busyness, and proposal writing would be my top pick!
What an awesome idea! Thanks! I'm with Sherrinda – busyness and self-editing…help!!!!
Karin,
I just read on Rene's blog that you write genres with a romantic thread. You should check out my blog because I have a contest going on for romance writers. You might be interested in this.
