My brain has been overloaded. What a week.
In case I didn’t mention it (and I’m pretty sure I haven’t), my hubby and I put an offer in on a house. It’s a low-ball, but it’s something we can afford. If it doesn’t work we’ll keep looking. If it does…mortgage.
Since my writing doesn’t really pay a lot (yet), I’m helping with the expenses by substitute teaching. And since we’re trying to buy a house, I’m subbing as much as I can so we have some money for this and that, as well as our down payment. So I subbed 3.5 days last week. That doesn’t seem like a lot, but it is.
You see, I am the home-maker. Hubby gets three meals a day (until he has to get up at 4:30, then breakfast is on his own). I do the housework. I pay the bills. Why? Because hubby works 60-70 hrs. a week. It’s the least I can do.
On top of that, we have discipleship class on Tuesday nights, I have a writing accountability partner that I meet once a week, and church on Friday nights (I get there early because I’m on the worship team). Throw in my desire to exercise, and I have very few free hours.
Well, the arrangement was good until I started writing. It’s not really working so well anymore. I’m overwhelmed.
I’m trying to figure out WHEN I can write. On Tues/Wed/Fri I really don’t have any time…and then I feel guilty for not doing anything. It would be easy if I was doing a mindless job, but I can’t write when my brain is fried, and my brain felt fried ALL WEEK last week. It wasn’t good.
Hubby is completely supportive though. We’ve talked about it, and I think we’re going to have to do it – I’m going to hire someone to come clean my house every other week.
It’s not an expense that I want to have, but let’s look at the options. I have to give up something:
– Eating/Cooking
– Sleeping
– Working
– Exercising
– Writing
– Dusting
Um…no brainer. I think we have a good compromise though. I’m going to use my “writing money” (the $40/mo. I get for writing) to pay for the cleaning. That pretty much takes care of my writing income, but it’s worth it to me 🙂
I have SO much more to say, but that’s the big one for now.
I can’t wait to tell you more about this course I’m taking…
Until then I can confess – I had pizza twice this week. And taco inspired dishes twice. Do you see now why I can’t give up the exercising? 😉
Here’s to a snow free week!!
