Kate Appleton needs a job. Her husband has left her, she’s been fired as a magazine editor, and she only wants to go to her parents’ summer house, The Nutshell, in Keene’s Harbor, Michigan, and make a Bed and Breakfast inn. Matt Culhane needs a spy in his brewery for a saboteur, and Kate is new in town. But Kate despises beer and nobody trusts her.
It’s been over a decade since I read a Janet Evanovich novel, but I wanted a fun audiobook for a road trip, and this one popped up.
#1 – I was TICKLED to hear that Lorelai King was narrating. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again–I’d listen to the phone book if she narrated it.
#2 – This was classic Janet Evanovich, but a PG version, which I LOVED.
#3 – I didn’t realize that it not only takes place in Michigan (my home state), but in Traverse City (near where I live!).
I think it goes without saying that this book was a hit. It was funny. Romantic. A little mysterious. Overall, just a fun way to spend a few hours. I’ve already borrowed book two from the library.
Rated PG.
