My first book by Sarah Hamaker, this has a different feel from most of the romantic suspense novels I read, and I like it — the book opened with intrigue, but it also took time to introduce the characters and give me a chance to know them before jumping into the heart of the conflict.

This book was a good blend of romance, suspense, and Christian theme/values. In my opinion, most romantic suspense novels focus more on the suspense than the romance and often feel more like suspense with a love story. If you want more romance in your suspense, this book delivers.

There’s also a clear story arc for Isana, watching her grow and change throughout the book. Despite the intensity of the book, there were plenty of less intense, reflective scenes and actions as well.
