What was your favorite picture book as a kid?
I don’t remember having picture books as a kid, but I did have a lot of Little Golden Books. My mother bought me one every week at the grocery store for twenty-five cents. I memorized most of them, even though I couldn’t read yet.
What was the first “real” book (with chapters and without pictures) you remember reading?
I’m not really sure, but it may have been the Little House on the Prairie series.
What was your most favorite book in high school?
I’m really having to stretch my memory as I’m coming up on my 50th high school reunion. I remember reading To Kill a Mocking Bird, which I really liked.
What was your least favorite book in high school?
I’m not sure of the title, but I think it was called Pamela. It was about a servant girl in medieval times whose master kept trying to seduce her. This thin plot went on for several hundred pages and got nowhere. I don’t remember whether the master was ever successful in seducing her or not, but I was so sick of the whole scenario I just wished he would seduce her and get it over with so the book would end. (I know that was terrible of me.)
What was the last novel you read?
The last novel I read was The Sound of Light by Sarah Sundin.
What was the last nonfiction book you read?
I don’t read much nonfiction, except for the Bible, Bible studies, and articles. I can’t remember the last actual nonfiction book I read.
Which book lived up to the hype (from the past 1-2 years)?
Sorry, I don’t really keep track of hype, so I wouldn’t know.
Which book do you love that needs more hype?
I loved The Sound of Light. I also read another book called When Stone Wings Fly by Karen Barnett, which was excellent.
Next novel on your TBR (up to three).
I am currently reading A Change in Fortune by Jen Turano. After that, I’ll be reading Bridges by Deb Raney and In High Cotton by Ane Mulligan. These are all books chosen for a book club I belong to.
Next nonfiction on your TBR (up to three).
Again, I’m not much of a nonfiction reader, so I’ll just stick to the Bible.
