depends on one man and his K-9
The murder of her ex-husband at a remote cabin and the discovery that the killers want to take her about-to-be-born baby sends Brooke Chandler running into the Tennessee mountains. She stumbles into the campsite of K-9 handler Trent Williston and his search-and-rescue dog, Rex. Trent vows to get Brooke and her baby to safety. Okay, I have some issues with this book, but as a former editor for a publisher, I want to preface this by saying I do NOT blame the author for these issues–her editor(s) should have caught these.
Honestly, I’ve never been a HUGE fan of Love Inspired books, but they can be a fun, quick read when you want a guaranteed HEA, so I occasionally pick them up. I expected that from this book, but there are several issues that pulled me out of the story over and over again (missing punctuation, grammar problems, jumping POV in the middle of a scene). These things should have been found by the editors. Unfortunately, they distracted me from the story itself, so I had a hard time connecting with it. I don’t blame the author for that, though–that’s on the editor(s).
Overall, this story is what you’d expect from a LI suspense. If you like LIS and can overlook some mistakes, you’ll like this book.
