I’ve never met Janet Ferguson, but based on her reading list and TBR pile, I think we could be friends. I’ll be honest — I’ve never read one of her books. After chatting with her for this interview, though, I’ve already got one in the mail and I can’t wait to read it! Here’s a peek at her library and wish list…

What was your favorite chapter book? What did you love about it?

That’s hard to remember, but I particularly enjoyed Charlotte’s Web. I was incredibly worried about Wilbur! I’m not a fan of spiders, but Charlotte seemed to be a good one, ha!

What was the first adult novel that you read? Did you like it? Why/why not?

Another hard to remember thing! Goodness, I’m getting old. I’m positive there were others in the years before this, but The Firm by John Grisham was great. It keep me turning the pages, and it’s set in the South!

What was the last book you read that you couldn’t put down? Why?

A few of them this year! Mind Games by Nancy Mehl and The Line Between by Tosca Lee were picks in my local book club that had suspense so compelling I couldn’t stop! My heart was literally thumping! I normally read contemporary Christian fiction, and Kara Isaac’s latest was definitely a favorite this year. Of course, I’ve loved all her novels. She’s both funny and poignant which really keeps me hooked. I’m a huge fan.

If you could have dinner with any fictional character, who would it be?

I loved Hadassah from Francine Rivers’ Mark of the Lion series. She was such a faithful Christian, despite persecution. I’d love to have her encouragement and faith, so dinner with her would be inspirational.

If you could turn any of your books into a movie, which would you pick? Who would cast as the main characters?

Oh fun! As an author, I’d love to see any of my novels become a movie! I think The Art of Rivers would be the most beneficial though, since so many individuals and families struggle with addiction which is the topic in the book. Honestly, I don’t know the names of a lot of actors or actresses, but I’m pretty sure I watch either of those Hemsworth brothers acting as my heroes, LOL!

Who’s your favorite author? Why?

I’m a huge fan of Charles Martin, Francine Rivers, and Lisa Wingate. They all write beautifully and have character-driven novels. I’m more into characters than the plot a lot of times!

Share five books from your TBR (to be read) pile.

So many!!! I’m currently reading The Thornbearer by Pepper Basham. I have hundreds more on my Kindle or book shelves just waiting. I’ll say:

The Book of Lost Friends by Lisa Wingate
Before I Called You Mine by Nicole Deese
Several Tamara Leigh books (I’ve been wanting to read one of Tamara’s but haven’t gotten to them yet)

Is he married or isn’t he?

Years ago, a Dear John letter and then an IED explosion overseas rocked Davis Donnelly’s world and left him unclear about his marital status. He’d signed divorce papers, but broken mentally and physically, he’d never bothered to find out if his marriage actually ended. Now that he’s about to start a new position as an outreach minister, it’s time to settle things once and for all. At the moment he tracks down his wife—or former wife?—she takes a tumble while chasing a little boy. Her son. And that’s when life flips upside down.

Joy Jennings Donnelly made her share of mistakes. But one thing she never considered a mistake was her child, and she’ll do anything to protect him. Even keep his paternity a secret.
