I made a startling discovery this past weekend – for the month of August this blog has only received HALF as many hits as my person blog, The Ramblings. What?!?

This blog now has TWENTY-THREE followers!! My personal blog? One (my cousin). I have giveaways here. I’m getting ready to introduce guest bloggers. There’s a THEME to this blog! So what’s going on.

To paraphrase my sister: “That’s because The Ramblings is funny. Your other blog is boring.”

WHAT?? BORING?!?

But then I stopped. I thought about her knitting blog (Legal Stitches). Yeah, it’s devoted to her knitting. I haven’t checked it since January.

Why?

Because I don’t knit.

It’s a good blog. She puts good info, nice pictures, and the occasional shot of my niece on it…but I could really care less (sorry Cam). I don’t know the lingo. I don’t understand the nuances of patterns. I just don’t care.

And it hit me – this blog bores my family because they don’t write. Val is my only friend who regularly checks it, but she writes. (Kayla might pop in to, for the same reason). Of the 23 followers on this blog NONE of them are related to me, and I’m okay with that (sort of).

I wish it wasn’t so boring to them, but I understand. I’d rather have my eyes gouged out with hot pokers than to read a banking blog by my dad (but I’d probably fall asleep before I found the pokers). This just isn’t their “thing”.

I’m glad this is YOUR thing. I’m glad there are people out there who read this because they understand me…and I understand you. I never understood the importance of the writing-friends until that talk with my sister. Now, more than ever, I’m glad I’m finding them, finding you.

I need you, and I thank you for your support, because my family is just weird 🙂
