This is a cute book, but I’ll be honest — if my sisters hadn’t insisted that I read the series, I might not have finished this book.

There aren’t a lot of likable characters, and the journal format doesn’t allow you to get deep into the head of Emma. That doesn’t allow for much of an emotional impact. Not a lot happens in this story, other than to set up another book. It reminds me a bit of the play “Our Town”–a slice-of-life story with not much significant happening.

I’ll keep reading the series because everyone assures me that it gets better.
