At the chateau, Marius makes a deadly mistake, and now someone must pay the price…
For fans of Beauty and the Beast, Dracula, and romantic fairytales, this is for you. A gothic tale as old as time…
Kaufer is a new-to-me author, but I was looking for enemies-to-lovers romance novels, and this was recommended. This was such an interesting, new twist on Beauty and the Beast AND Dracula. While it’s not my normal reading style, it definitely interested me and pulled me in.
One thing that makes the story unique is the omniscient POV. It’s not quite as emotional as the books I normally read, but curiosity propelled me through the story. In all honesty, there were times when I wanted to smack Mina (I now understand how frustrated men get when women say, “I’m fine”), but I really wanted to see how things panned out.
This is definitely a darker take on Beauty and the Beast, and the steamy scenes don’t make it suitable for children, but it’s an interesting story and I’m glad I picked it up. It reminded me of Hannah Whitten’s For the Wolf.
R-rated for violence and sex.
