What was your favorite picture book as a kid?
My favorite book was Thumbelina. I think I read it over 100 times. My dad used to call me Thumbelina as I grew up because I was small. But I was never a ballerina, although I wish I took lessons as a child.
What was the first “real” book (with chapters and without pictures) you remember reading?
I think it was Black Beauty by Anna Sewell. I loved horses and always dreamed of having one of my own. But I never did.
What was your most favorite book in high school?
The Giver by Lois Lowry. I loved this book and read it several times. I even bought copies for my children to read when in high school.
What was your least favorite book in high school?
Animal Farm. I just couldn’t relate to this book.
What was the last novel you read?
Planted with Hope (The Pinecraft Pie Shop) by Tricia Goyer and Sherry Gore. This book is so bright and full of hope. Our world needs more of each.
What was the last nonfiction book you read?
Celebrations of Discipline (The Path to Spiritual Growth) by Richard Foster. Our church did this as a study series. I learn so much about deepening my faith.
Which book lived up to the hype (from the past 1-2 years)?
Piercing the Darkness by Frank Peretti. I heard so much about all of Frank’s books. I could not put it down once I started it.
Which book do you love that needs more hype?
The entire collection of the Pinecraft Pie Shop series. Each of the books so far are full of joy and faith.
