What was your favorite picture book as a kid?
Is it sad that I don’t remember? So I will choose my favorite to read to my three girls (the oldest of whom is now 22): Goodnight Moon.
What was the first “real” book (with chapters and without pictures) you remember reading?
I’m sure there were ones that came before but the ones I remember most are Nancy Drew and Little House on the Prairie.
What was your most favorite book in high school?
1984
What was your least favorite book in high school?
The Scarlet Letter (don’t kill me for saying that. I know it’s a classic but I don’t remember really getting into it.)
What was the last novel you read?
Nicholas Sparks, Dreamland. I love Nicholas Sparks and I read every single one as soon as it comes out, but this is definitely at the bottom of the list.
What was the last nonfiction book you read?
Katie Couric, Going There. I am a journalist by trade so I loved it for that reason. And when raising kids, I always had the Today Show on. I remember watching live as September 11 happened so it was crazy to read her perspective on events like that. And I knew the news business was crazy, but she described how cut throat it is and I found that really intriguing.
Which book lived up to the hype (from the past 1-2 years)?
Now that I am an indie author, I find myself reading mostly indie books so that is hard to answer. But I read a lot of great things in the Christian reader groups about The Mobster’s Daughter by Rachel McDaniel. I never read her before but it kept getting talked about so I read it even though I rarely read historical. It was a great book and I’m glad I veered out of my contemporary romance zone to check it out.
On a side note, as an author, experts tell you how important a good cover is. This cover really drew me in and was a main reason for me to buy it.
Which book do you love that needs more hype?
I have seen good reviews about it in some of the Christian reader groups but one of my favorite books is Love and the Little White Lie by Tammy L. Gray. I have read it twice and is one I would definitely recommend if you love contemporary Christian romance.
What is the bext novel on your TBR (up to three)?
The Mountain Between Us by Charles Martin and Beachfront Inheritance by Michel Gilcrest. But first I need to finish A Barefoot Tide by Grace Greene.
What’s the next nonfiction on your TBR?
I Am Malala.
