Megan Turner never intended to return to her small hometown. But when her mom got sick, everything changed. So, she’ll make the best of the situation and oversee the restoration of the building that will become her bakery. She will not, however, make the mistake of falling for her annoyingly attractive contractor. Not again, anyway…

Jake Sullivan lost the love of his life when he screwed up and broke Megan’s heart. But that’s in the past now. These days, being the best single dad he can be requires all his focus. So, he’ll handle her renovation, and absolutely will not entertain any unprofessional thoughts about his new boss. It should be easy. Except, it isn’t…

Can a little forced proximity—and a few determined matchmakers—convince Megan and Jake to take another shot at happily ever after? Maybe. But only if a particularly pesky ghost from Jake’s past doesn’t ruin it first…

A sweet, small-town romance by Laura Ashwood, this second-chance-at-love novel has everything fans of Love Inspired books adore: a hurt hero/heroine, still-burning attraction, misunderstandings, nosy/interfering mothers, and (of course) a second chance at the love that got away. Nothing’s ever easy, though, with health issues, ex-wives, and six-year-old boys.

Ashwood creates vivid settings and character descriptions that help you feel like you’re in rural Montana with Megan and Jake. I do wish I’d gotten to see more of their interactions to watch their chemistry bubble a little bit more, but that’s because that’s my favorite part of the story.

Overall, this is a great read for a summer weekend, especially for fans of Love Inspired romance novels.
