April has been quite the productive month in northern Michigan. I credit a lot of that to the SNOW that continued to cover the ground as late as April 20 – it’s been a brutal winter here. Since I had no desire to mess around with snow (for the sixth month in a row), I stayed inside. Since I stayed inside, I managed to accomplish quite a bit.
My first big success – completing the 2013 Elk Rapids Visitors Guide. This is the second year that I’ve worked on it, and both years it’s turned out beautifully. A digital copy will be available on-line soon. In the meantime, you can enjoy the cover here.
In case you missed it, my big accomplishment for March was completing my SpeedBo goal of writing 45,000 words for my current WIP. That put me up at a total of 60,000 words. Since then I’ve continued to cut out time to finish that first draft. I’m currently at 70,000 words, and I expect to finish in the next week. This is definitely the hardest part for me. I can’t wait to start the editing process!
One of my favorite parts of editing is getting away from the computer. I love having paper and pen in hand, especially if it lets me work outside (or at least in a comfy chair). I’m just hoping it warms up soon so I can get outside.
Even if it doesn’t warm up here, I’ll get to enjoy some sun soon when I head to the 2013 Evangelical Press Association conference in Nashville, Tennessee. I’ve never been to an EPA event OR to Nashville, so I’m pretty excited! I don’t really know what to expect, but I like that feeling – it means I won’t miss anything by being too focused on what I think should happen. I’m seriously looking forward to this adventure. I love attending conferences!
There’s not much else to say about the past month – it was 20-30 degrees below normal and I still have my winter boots by the door. It’s amazing to realize how much the weather affects my mood and writing. I hope that next month I can report how much the sun and warmth inspired me!
