It’s official – my sister and her family have their plane tickets for Michigan! What does that have to do with writing? Um, everything! Okay, not really – I’m just super excited (and I will be taking another month off to hang out with them, but more on that later).
I am thriving with a new schedule! As hard as it’s been to reset my clock, I’m now up at 4 a.m. Monday-Thursday (I give myself until 5 a.m. on Fridays), I’m falling asleep early enough that I can function through the whole day, and that means I’m writing a ton!
I’m not quite as far along as I’d like to be in some areas, but that’s just because the writing is taking longer than I’d anticipated, not because I’m not using my time wisely. It’s also because I’ve picked up a few more writing gigs (all of which pay to some degree, so I can’t argue with that!).
I won’t lie to you – I didn’t miss blogging last month. In fact, it was kind of nice not to worry about it. I’ve got another promo month coming up soon (see the first paragraph of today’s post). I’m looking forward to it. Even though I’ve already got this year pretty much scheduled, I’m already reconsidering things. I might cut back again … we’ll see.
The website and blog are still under construction, but I expect them to be done soon (though as I say that, I’ll also admit that I have absolutely no idea, as I have no context for this type of thing). Regardless, I’m thrilled to see how everything turns out!
This past month I wrapped up work on my town’s visitor’s guide and judging the Genesis contest – both new experiences for me, and I loved doing them!
My plans for this month are pretty simple:
1. Finish my novel (I cut that last several chapters and am re-writing the end; it’s going well!).
2. Submit two stories for consideration in a compilation.
3. Write 2-4 stories for the local paper.
4. Keep outlining the next novel (I thought I’d be farther along with this one, but I’m still progressing, so I won’t complain).
.That’s it for me – how are you doing? If you could only accomplish ONE thing this month, what would it be?
