Last week my husband FINALLY worked less than 60 hours. It was a fabulous occasion to have him home throughout the week because that meant we could FINALLY devote the weekend to unpacking! (Yes, it’s been over two months since we moved and we’ve done very little since mid-December).
I don’t know what motivated me, but since my honey was here, I “rearranged” my office. Not by much, but I did move my desk forward about six inches…and WOW!
It’s only six inches, but I can’t believe how much space it opens in my office! And when there’s open (and uncluttered) space, it motivates me! I wrote over 1,000 words on my MS yesterday. I can’t prove it, but I think my “new” office had something to do with it.
Do you have any quirks that make it easier/harder to write? Do you need Christmas lights year round, or the pencils in a row? What motivates you?
I'm motivated when I'm nice and settled in (don't have to go anywhere) with a cup of coffee or tea and a snack!
Environment can be a big factor as well! Congrats on your new office set up!
I'm sorry. You had me laugh as I realized where you were going with this. Six inch difference, then your first line was, my husband. Sorry sometimes my mind does wander. And 'no' I didn'g think you were going there but the connection just hit me as funny.
Anyway, I am in the process of moving. I've packed up the entire house, leaving only what is needed for the next few weeks. Funny, how I need things now that I've packed.
But, my computer desk looks wonderful. No more clutter. It's practically empty. I wonder if I can keep it that way after the move. It sure would be more productive to have it so clutter-free.
