Ten years ago a breakthrough book launched a ministry that has helped more than one million people overcome this world and win the battle for their hearts and minds. Now Neil Anderson has revised and expanded Victory over the Darkness for a new generation of readers, outlining practical and more productive ways to Christian growth based on Christ’s “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.” Victory Over the Darkness emphasizes the importance of believing and internalizing the cardinal truths of Scripture as a base from which to renew the mind and fend off Satan’s relentless attempt to convince us that we are less than Christ empowers us to be.
I thought I’d read this book before, but I agreed to read it again when someone recommended it to me. As someone who’s been a spirit-filled Christian for decades, I honestly didn’t expect to get a lot out of it–the topics are all ones I’ve studied in the past and have a working knowledge of.
God’s timing isn’t ours, though, and everything about this book as I read it ministered to me at some level.
I can’t express my appreciation enough for how thorough Anderson is in his dedication to biblical truths and principles–every chapter of the book goes back to Scripture for clarification and evidence. This book isn’t based solely on his experiences and circumstances; he always goes back to Scripture to show how those truths play out in our lives.
Regardless of where you are in your walk with God (but especially if you’ve been a Christian for a while and are struggling with feeling lost, hopeless, or defeated), I recommend this book.
