Boy have I been a slacker – sorry. Blogging (and reading blogs) has been on the back burner for the last couple of weeks. But that’s okay! There’s a lot happening.

I had the chance to write a couple of articles for the ERN – and I was the one who suggested them! That’s a big deal for me. Being a writer is NOT the same thing as being a journalist, and trying to come up with ideas for the weekly paper is not easy for me. If they wanted a short story I’d be all over it, but this whole real-life/interview things is not something that comes naturally to me. So to have a couple of my own ideas published is quite cool to me.

I’m getting ready to branch out now, too. One of the articles I wrote gave me an idea for another article, but it wouldn’t work in the ERN. However, it would be great for a paper in the next county over. With that in mind I’m going to do something I’ve never done before – pitch an idea before the article is written (because I don’t want to spend the time doing the interview if no one wants to print it). Now I need to review how to write a query for this and I’ll get it out sometime next week.

I’m still reading (and loving it). I’m ready to start writing though, and I get to go back to that Monday (I’ll be out of town this weekend, so I know I won’t get anything written). I’m SOOO excited to practice the things I’ve been learning – yeah!

That’s how writing has been, but the title here is making time for life…that’s what I’ve been doing, and in a big way. How big? House big.

My hubby and I put an offer in on a house. Lots of touring, then offering and counter offering. Now we’re doing inspections. Structurally we’re good, but there’s some questions on the mechanicals. That’s been time consuming: house inspector, electrician, boiler inspector, septic info…and that’s not counting the paper work for the mortgage! The paperwork isn’t really that bad. For as completely disorganized as I am as a writer, I am TOTALLY organized when it comes to financials and house hold paperwork. Between knowing where everything is and having a printer/copier/scanner at home it didn’t take long to get the info ready.

So I’ve been making time for this housing adventure, but keeping up with my monthly writing goals. I know you’ve suffered because you’ve missed me, and I’m so sorry. I’m baking you a batch of cookies right now…does that help?

I will keep you posted on the house, though. If it goes well I will DEFINITELY take some time away from the blog to get packed and moved…but I have a few more inspections to go.

Here’s to a good query/pitch and A+ inspections!
